This recipe takes the tang of dijon mustard and the sweetness of honey and blends them in a creamy sauce coating perfectly seared chicken breasts, bringing the warmth of summer to your plate.

FOR THE CHICKEN
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 tsp italian seasoning
- 1 tsp garlic salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp olive oil
FOR THE CREAMY MUSTARD SAUCE
- 3 tbsp unsalted sweet cream butter
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp italian seasoning
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 3 tbsp dijon mustard
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
Instructions
- Season the chicken breasts with the italian seasoning, garlic salt, and black pepper.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Place the seasoned chicken breasts in the skillet and cook until they are fully cooked through and golden brown, about 6 minutes per side. Remove from the skillet and tent with aluminum foil to keep warm.
- Melt the butter in the skillet, scraping the bottom of the pan as it melts.
- Stir in the garlic and cook for a few minutes until fragrant.
- Slowly whisk in the all-purpose flour and cook for a few minutes.
- Gently whisk in the heavy whipping cream, chicken broth, dijon mustard, honey, salt, and black pepper until combined.
- Simmer the sauce for 10 minutes, then return the chicken to the skillet and cook for an additional 2 to 3 minutes, spooning the sauce over the chicken. Enjoy!
Notes
- If the sauce is too thick, simply add more chicken broth.
- If the sauce is too thin, simply add more heavy whipping cream.
- This recipe pairs well with garlic rice or homestyle mashed potatoes.
