- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup honey

- Let the batter rest for a few minutes.
- Remove the warm cast-iron skillet from the oven and brush the melted butter up the sides.

- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean.
- Let the cornbread cool for about 10 minutes before slicing. Enjoy!
Notes
- Feel free to make some variations with this recipe by adding peppers, corn, and/or cheese to the batter before baking and topping with hot honey rather than sweet honey.
- If using a 9 x 9-inch pan instead of a cast-iron skillet, reduce the baking powder to 1 tsp to prevent overflow.
- If using a 9 x 9-inch pan, do not warm it with butter in the oven. Simply use melted butter and brush it on the bottom and sides of the pan.
- If the top of the cornbread is browning too quickly, cover with an aluminum foil tent for the remainder of the baking time.
