  • Author: Caitlyn
  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 1x

Description

Ground beef, homegrown vegetables, and al dente noodles come together in a savory sauce for this Old-Fashioned Goulash. Add a dash of hot sauce for a kick straight from the southwest and some warm seasonings to make this stew a hearty, comfort meal.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 2 bell peppers, diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 6 large tomatoes, diced
  • 1 15 oz can tomato sauce
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 cups elbow noodles
  • 2 tbsps Tabasco pepper sauce
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef over medium heat in a large skillet, breaking it up as you go. Drain the excess fat from the pan.
  2. Add the diced onion, bell peppers, and garlic to the pan.
  3. Sauté until the onions are translucent and the peppers are softened.
  4. Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, and water. Bring to a simmer.
  5. Add in the elbow noodles and cook until the pasta is al dente, about 12-15 minutes.
  6. Mix in Tabasco pepper sauce, salt, and pepper to your liking. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Homegrown vegetables make this recipe, but if you don’t have a home garden, make sure to get fresh vegetables from a local grocer.
  • Top with a dollop of sour cream, tortilla strips, avocado, or a sprinkle of cheese.
